Privacy policy
Effective November 1, 2026
W185 Holdings LLC (“Strum,” “we,” “us”) operates the Strum ChatGPT plugin and these companion pages. Vert Ventures LLC is the plugin’s directory publisher. This policy describes this plugin; the separate Strum mobile app is covered by its mobile privacy policy.
What we receive
When ChatGPT invokes Strum, we receive the arguments needed for that tool: a song or artist search, a selected song ID, a YouTube video link, a generation job ID, and any transpose or capo setting. Strum does not require a login, a name, an email address, payment details, or access to your ChatGPT history. Avoid including personal or sensitive information in song searches or video links.
We receive your email address and the information you choose to provide when you contact support. Hosting and service providers may process technical information such as IP addresses, request times, and error or security logs to deliver and protect the service.
How the service uses information
We use requests to find chord charts, prepare publicly accessible video audio for analysis, recognise chords, display results, and troubleshoot problems. We process this information to provide the service you request, maintain its reliability and security, respond to support requests, and meet legal obligations. Where applicable, these purposes rely on performance of our agreement, our legitimate interests in operating the service, or a legal obligation.
What we save
- Search text and transpose or capo selections are processed for the request and are not saved in the plugin’s usage database.
- Generation records contain the video ID, public title and channel name, processing status, and technical job identifiers. Failed job records are removed after 30 days.
- Completed chord charts, timing, and public video metadata are cached for reuse by other users for as long as we maintain the library. Do not submit confidential, private, or unlisted material that you do not want included in a shared chart library.
- We keep daily aggregate counts of tool calls and generation outcomes. These counters contain no account IDs, IP addresses, search text, or persistent user identifiers. They measure service activity, not identifiable users or plugin installations.
Audio is used to perform recognition and is not offered for download through the plugin. The recognition worker removes its temporary audio copy after submission. The existing extraction service and recognition providers may retain operational copies or records according to their service terms and retention practices.
Service providers and sharing
ChatGPT/OpenAI sends tool requests and receives the results needed to answer you. Heroku hosts the plugin and its database; Supabase provides the existing chord library; Strum’s audio extraction service uses RapidAPI providers and Amazon Web Services; Klangio processes audio to recognise chords. Necessary request, video, audio, or technical data is shared with the relevant provider for those functions. We may also disclose information where required by law, to protect rights and security, or in a business transfer with appropriate safeguards.
We do not sell personal information or share it for targeted advertising. This plugin has no advertising trackers or analytics cookies. OpenAI and third-party platforms handle information under their own policies; using Strum does not change your ChatGPT privacy settings.
Retention and security
Support correspondence is kept as needed to resolve the request and maintain appropriate business records. Infrastructure logs and provider-held data follow the relevant provider’s retention controls. Non-identifying aggregate counts may be retained for ongoing reporting. We use encrypted connections, restricted administrative access, and separate service credentials where available. No system can guarantee absolute security.
Your choices and rights
You can stop using or disconnect Strum in ChatGPT at any time. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, receive a copy of, restrict, or object to the use of your personal information, withdraw consent where processing relies on it, appeal a decision, or complain to a data protection authority. We will consider requests under applicable law and will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
Contact support@strumguitarapp.com. Include enough detail to locate the record, such as the video link or support email. Because no user account or persistent identifier is created, we may not be able to link an anonymous request to you. We may request proportionate verification before disclosing or deleting personal information.
International use and children
Our infrastructure and providers may process data in the United States and other countries. Applicable transfer safeguards and mandatory local rights continue to apply. Strum is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. Contact us if you believe a child has provided personal information so we can address it.
Changes and contact
We will post updates here with a revised effective date and provide additional notice where required. Contact W185 Holdings LLC, United States, at support@strumguitarapp.com.
